Workshop1: ORGANIZING YOUR GENEALOGY – Learn how to organize genealogy both on paper & computer. Students will learn about common genealogy documents, how to evaluate & cite their sources & how to avoid common pitfalls. Presentations will be done on a few common genealogy software programs.
Workshop 2: INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH – Learn about how to conduct genealogy research, both in libraries, archives and online, and learn how to make the most of the census research.
Workshop 3: DIGGING DEEPER – Unlock your family secrets and broaden your genealogy research using civil, parish, probate and newspaper records.
Workshop 4: ADVANCED TOPICS – When you’ve picked all the low-hanging fruit, it’s time to consider more challenging records. This course will cover immigration and land records, and introduce you to the world of DNA research.
Workshop times: 10 am – 3 pm. Feel free to bring your laptop and any questions relating to these topics.
