Get Ready for the
Time of your Life!
2018 ARTA Wellness Challenge
April 1, 2018 – June 30, 2018
We are excited to welcome spring and encourage our members to live an active and engaged lifestyle in retirement!
This year, we are pleased to announce a major change to the ARTA Walking Challenge and are now introducing Time of Your Life – ARTA Wellness Challenge.
ARTA members are now being encouraged to focus on their personal wellness, and can track and record time spent doing any activity that improves their life, whether it be walking, meditation, gardening, bicycling, cross-country skiing, weightlifting or more!
Members are able to take part in the wellness challenge and record their activity, using their own watches, fit bits or phones and the accompanying recording sheets (PDF’s attached below). If you do not have a time tracking device, please contact Jennifer Hope at the ARTA office and she will assist you in procuring a watch. The individual with the most time spent on their personal wellness will win the Individual Wellness Challenge, and if you are part of a branch, your time will go towards a branch participation contest as well.
Please find attached:
- Personal Wellness Log: A form for each participant to record their wellness activity for each day and amount of time spent between April 1 – June 30.
- Personal Best 30 Days Report: A sheet for each participant to record their top 30 days, as found on their recording form for the months April to June. Each participant should also total their 30 days and send this sheet back to their branch president.
Please contact Jennifer Hope at the ARTA office (firstname.lastname@example.org, 780-822-2407) for any questions. If you do not belong to a branch, please return your personal report forms to her by Friday, July 6, 2018.
Regarding the change from previous years’ Walking Challenge
The intent of using time as a measurement is to broaden the scope and make the challenge more inclusive. Wellness activities are many and varied. Recognition is appropriate for ARTA members who are actively involved in swimming, cycling, yoga and other activities.
According to one of ARTA’s surveys, social isolation/loneliness is a concern for our members. Increasing the activity options in the Wellness Challenge provides support for members to become engaged in activities such as pickleball and other team sports that benefit personal wellness.
Naturally, if an individual prefers to continue walking for the Wellness Challenge, the only difference is that time is now recorded instead of steps.
Each ARTA member is encouraged to participate in activities of their preference that contribute to their personal wellness.
“Time of Your Life” is a positive step!
