Cultural Exploration with Adventure Canada
Jun 10 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Gaining a deeper respect and appreciation for a place means taking the time to understand the culture of the people living there. Explore how this happens on Adventure Canada’s Arctic voyages with Jason Edmunds, an Inuit Expedition Leader, and Expedition Guide Martin Aldrich.

On Thursday, June 10th at 1pm PEST, Jason and Martin will talk about spotting Arctic wildlife, Inuit communities, and experiencing pristine nature in this special region of the world. Discover the differences between cultural place names and those bestowed by European Explorers. Of course, Jason will also provide guidance on how to pronounce them.

Tune in to also learn about a special promotion available for attendees. Plus! One lucky attendee will win a travel credit to be used towards a journey of a lifetime.

About our co-hosts:

Jason Edmunds grew up in the communities of Nain and Makkovik, Nunatsiavut, just twenty yards from the Atlantic Ocean. He spent his childhood extensively travelling the Labrador coast with his father—hunting, fishing, and assisting on tours and boat charters. Now, living just 100 yards from Lake Ontario in Port Credit, Jason is a professional Expedition Leader, guide, bear monitor and cross-cultural communication consultant. He believes in the power of travel as a transformative, educational experience. During the Arctic winter months, he assists in the planning of quality Arctic and sub-Arctic expeditions as a member of the Operations team. Jason sits on the board for Travel Nunavut and the Indigenous Advisory Circle for the Peel Region School Board. He is also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) and of the Explorer’s Club. He is the 2020 recipient of the RCGS Martin Bergmann Medal for Excellence in arctic leadership and research.

Martin Aldrich is a Business Development Manager and Expedition Team Member for Adventure Canada. He has travelled extensively throughout the world for work and pleasure and has visited over forty countries and counting. His passion for adventure and experiencing new things keeps him constantly exploring and learning. Martin will share his first-hand experience in this live webinar presentation.
