International Travel Update — September 26, 2022

Earlier today, the Canadian government announced that they are dropping all COVID-19 border restrictions for those entering Canada, effective October 1, 2022. Beginning on that date, travellers will no longer be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, quarantine upon arrival in Canada, or require proof of COVID-19 testing before or after their trip.

The mask mandate for passengers on trains and planes has been lifted as well, and masks are now optional, though still recommended.

Travellers will still have to follow provincial recommendations where applicable, as well as the safety regulations of individual travel providers. It is still recommended that those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms do not travel, and travellers are advised to remain mindful and take proper health precautions, as the risk of contracting COVID-19 is still present.

As ARTA Emergency Travel Insurance already covers incidents related to COVID-19, ARTA travel policies are not affected by this update. For a full list of travel FAQs, visit https://www.arta.net/news-events/arta-news/emergency-travel-faqs/.
