Taking Stock of Your Benefits

As the winter frost melts away and birds start their return to this side of the border, it’s a great reminder that a fresh start is on the way. We embrace this seasonal change by preparing our homes and gardens for the new beginnings that lay ahead; maybe it’s more than just our environments that need a good organizing.

Consider using this time of transition to take stock of your ARTA retiree benefits. Whether you’ve been enrolled for a couple of years or have been with us for a decade now is a great time to review your benefits to ensure they are still meeting your needs. Remember, you can increase your benefits at any time; however, you must be enrolled for at least twenty-four months before you can decrease your Extended Health Care or Dental coverage.

Do You Have All the Benefits You Need?

Extended Health Care
The ARTA Retiree Benefits Plan offers four Extended Health Care Plans to choose from: Health Wise, Health Wise Plus, Total Health, and Ultimate Health. The major differences between the plans are the coverage maximums for certain benefits, and only two of the plans offer travel coverage (Total and Ultimate Health). You can learn more about each plan on the ARTA website, arta.net, by visiting Benefits at a Glance, found in the Retiree Benefits section of the Member Services area.

Dental
You have three dental plans to choose from with the ARTA Retiree Benefits Plan. Each plan offers slightly different coverage levels which can be reviewed online at arta.net, by visiting the Benefits at a Glance page mentioned above.

Is Your Information Up to Date?

Keeping your banking, contact, and other important information current is an essential part of ensuring your ARTA retiree benefits are running smoothly — after all, ARTA cannot pay your benefit claims if we don’t have correct banking information.

The easiest way to review all of your information is through the ARTA Members Health Care Account. To update your banking and contact information, including mailing address, visit the Profile tab once you have logged into your account. Don’t have an account? No problem! Registering is easy:

  1.  Visit arta.net and click on the red Members Health Care Account button. This will open the
ARTA Members Health Care Account login screen.
  2. Click on the orange Register button.
  3. Enter your ARTA Benefits ID number, date of birth, section code, and postal code (ID number and section code can be found on your ARTA Benefits ID card). Click Continue.
  4. Read the terms and conditions, and click I Understand.
  5. Enter your email address and create a password. Click Create Profile.
  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email to the email address you specified in your profile. You must click on the confirmation link in this email within twenty-four hours to complete your registration.

We’re Here To Help

If you have any questions while reviewing your benefits, contact an ARTA benefit plan coordinator at arta@asebp.ca or toll-free at 1-855-444-ARTA (2782).

While it can be easy to get used to the way things are, you may be holding onto things that aren’t serving you as well as you think, or missing out on something you really need. Take stock of what you truly want and need this season and embrace all of the change spring has to offer. You won’t regret it!
