April is Daffodil Month for Cancer Awareness

April is Daffodil Month. These lively yellow flowers have symbolized strength and courage in the fight against cancer since the 1950s. Across Canada this month, volunteers raise funds for research and for support services for those living with cancer. Here’s what’s happening in Alberta.

Throughout the month, door-to-door canvassers collect donations for the Canadian Cancer Society, and daffodil pins are available at retail locations to support the cause. During Daffodil Days, April 1 to 10, volunteers sell and deliver fresh-cut daffodils. You can pre-order the flowers for delivery during that week, or you can buy a bunch for $6 at locations throughout the province.

Daffodil Tea events take place around the province from April 17 to 23. Daffodil Dash is a 5K fun-run in Edmonton and Calgary on April 24. You can run solo or as part of a team.
