Are You Forming Good Habits?

With a new year comes a fresh start! Whether it’s trying to be more active, kicking a bad habit, or starting a new hobby, New Year’s resolutions can be a positive change for anyone.

If you don’t have a resolution in mind, here are some popular resolutions that have your wellness (financial, physical, emotional and spiritual) at heart:

  • exercise
  • save money
  • eat healthier
  • spend more time with family
  • manage stress better
  • enjoy life to the fullest
  • travel
  • have better sleep

It’s easier to climb a mountain when you see the summit

You may have heard that it takes 21 days to form a new habit but a study done in 2009 indicates that it takes on average 66 days for a new behaviour to become automatic. That may seem daunting but the good news is that it doesn’t matter if you mess up every now and then. Building better habits is not an all-or-nothing process.

Whether you start your resolution on January first or the first Monday after the big party, it’s never too late to make a positive change in your life. And if you slip up every once in a while, don’t beat yourself up – you owe it to yourself to keep striving forward.
