SWARTA Recognizes Volunteer of the Year

Craig Whitehead has always believed in service. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quebec, he served as a member of the University of Lethbridge Senate, Budget Committee, and the Advanced Education Minister Advisory Committee.

He has a passion for sports, having refereed basketball for fifty years and rugby for twenty years and serving as a rugby referee coach. He is president of the Southern Alberta Senior Mens’ Golf Association, which has raised over $21,000 for various local groups over the past few years. Craig has also been a director for the Picture Butte Golf Course and co-chaired the organizing group for the ARTA Golf Tournament in 2023, which raised $4,600 for the Alberta Retired Teachers Charitable Foundation.

Craig enjoys his positions as an ARTA representative for SWARTA and a member of the ARTA Pension and Financial Wellness Committee. “Service has always been an expectation held by my family.”
